Completely agree with the general point. OTOH this was in some ways the most interesting episode of the series so far to me. But at the same time our main character is becoming less relevant in the story with each move. I mean sure, it's all relevant in some way -- we get her unexpected time travel and being saving her own grandmother to keep her in the story. But there was nothing wrong with the original family tale of Aisha having done it. Instead that save seems more necessary as a way of explaining what later happens between Najma and Kamran (which still seems vague enough that the connection is unnecessary).

Then she's inexplicably shot back to the present where she can speed through a resolution with her mother (Zenobia Shroff) who has no time to remember how she was afraid of her daughter getting involved in magic and fantasy.

Yes, it's all starting to be things happening because they need to happen in the story than because they're believable in any way.
