I have to agree that the first two episodes have been underwhelming -- although I actually think it's exactly because we can't be sure what's going on since anyone we're spending time with could be someone else. I think the reveal in Ep 2 about why the Skrulls are angry makes sense but it also begs the question why that situation came about in the first place.
In short, I think the problem is that if you can't trust anything you're seeing it diminishes investment in that story.
