So I don't know if I missed something, but why are the Flag Smashers considered terrorists? Have they hurt people or is it based on the fact they busted up a bank and are disrupting supply lines? Do you think they are the villains in this story or are we being set up for a bait and switch?
The framing they've chosen to give John Walker does present some wrinkles in his character. He's not a Bad Guy . . . probably. I am still curious about whether they asked Sam to be Captain America or not.
That scene with the cops stopping Sam and Bucky was shot interestingly. The way they stopped their car was aggressive, but then they didn't have their hands on their weapons as they walked up. Their belts weren't that realistic, so I'm not sure whether to credit the cops' motivation or the studio being sloppy. Sam's face though. That was a tough scene.

Date: 2021-03-26 09:48 pm (UTC)The whole bit with Isaiah was very well done an raises many more questions!
I dislike Walker intently - I was warming to him right up to him giving the whole "I have guts" speech which made me want to see him quickly flattened because of the sheet amount of arrogance and hubris. *G*
Off for a re-watch!

Date: 2021-03-27 06:09 am (UTC)I definitely want to know how closely they're gonna follow the comics when it comes to Isaiah and the other men who were experimented on. I wouldn't mind a flashback of that fight with the Winter Soldier either.
So, I was relieved when it turned out he was running out on his high school football field. I was really turned off when I thought the US Gov't/NFL were making a super spectacle of him and he would be eating up that limelight. He seemed humble enough, but then he stepped in it every time he spoke to Sam or Bucky. I made the mistake at first of being very willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and then realized that was a very wrong thing to do with the evidence the show has given us. This dude now has a lot of work to prove he's not an asshole, if that's something he can prove.

Date: 2021-03-26 10:48 pm (UTC)The main characters finally in the same scene, wow!
Hehehe, Bucky's pop-culture boasting about having read The Hobbit when it was released.
Ooh, Enfys Nest.
Pfft, there's a "Ä" in the second part of one of the truck's license plates. The other one doesn't follow the German license-plate structure at all. It says "2011 EKH". Can't remember about the numbers, but the letters were definitely part of Wanda's license plate. What does it refer to?
Fake Cap to the rescue. I didn't expect him to have a bigger part!
Carl Lumbly! \o/
That scene with the cops took an unexpected turn!
The psychologist does her job in a rather unusual way, but hey, if it gets results.
That Zemo tease was mean.

Date: 2021-03-27 06:24 am (UTC)I don't remember if it is comics lore, movie lore, or fanfiction hive mind that Bucky was an avid reader both pre and post WS. He seems very proud of his Hobbit knowledge. I wonder if he was excited to read Lord of the Rings?
Ah wow, I've never had the detail eye to pick up on license plates. The best I ever did was the KAZ 2Y5 Kansas plate from Supernatural which was a fan favorite.
I was willing to give the therapist the benefit of the doubt in the first episode, but I think they're just using her for comic relief. I hope Bucky does get some kind of help, but I don't think we're going to see it on this show.

Date: 2021-04-01 03:03 am (UTC)Bucky - probably because he's very withdrawn - felt to me as if he was just... there. Some random, unknown person to whom I felt no connection. Good thing that I finally watched the first 2 Captain America movies. I really like the idea of Bucky being an avid reader and being excited about Lord of the Rings. Even if things aren't too great right now, there's gotta be some joy for him!
My god, I loved the KAZ plate so much that I made it grave-stone icons when the license number was changed. Not that I have a thing for license plates in general, I just like to read everything that turns up on screen.
Yeah, while entertaining, from a rl-perspective Dr. Raynor is pretty terrible. But maybe it'll turn out she was helpful by getting Bucky to socialize. Being around people I'm close to makes me feel better than talking to a therapist did, so my hope is that Sam will become that close friend for Bucky.

Date: 2021-04-01 03:05 am (UTC)But no one seems to know what the letters stand for (at least the last time I googled it). I wonder if it refers to something that's coming.

Zemo gives me chills.

Date: 2021-03-27 06:30 am (UTC)Zemo was not my favorite bad guy, but I'm hoping he'll also get enough character work that I'l enjoy not liking him after this!

Date: 2021-03-28 01:55 pm (UTC)Like, there's a LONG fucking history of Bucky and that word. I was kind of softening to him early on, but between his interaction with Bucky and Sam on the truck and then THAT, I was like, nope, asshole, you've spent all the meagre good will you got. GRRR.

Date: 2021-03-27 06:46 pm (UTC)I was already shipping them before the show started, but I feel like after several years of false starts, I have finally gotten my fannish engine to re-engage. I'm so in for them.

Date: 2021-03-27 07:46 pm (UTC)Excellent! I am so excited for more Sam/Bucky content! I mean, I've been writing/reading for years now but I love when the boys get the good attention they deserve. I've been dragging along with a couple of fics for over a year now, and I think I've gotten a second wind too.

Date: 2021-03-27 06:48 pm (UTC)I really wanted Sam to bring up how he donated the shield for Cap's exhibit, not so somebody else could romp around with it. At least he got to very much reject hanging around to help solidify Walker's image. Ugh.
Very much continuing the trend of having a ridiculous tv psychiatrist.
Really hope we return to Isaiah at some point. And I loved how Sam got to react to a black superhero just being swept under the rug. They do seem to be tackling race somewhat in this show, thumbs up there, but I'll still be bracing for a misstep until the show is over 🤷🏻♀️

Date: 2021-03-27 07:52 pm (UTC)Yeah, Sam is keeping a tight lid on his emotions. I'm kinda afraid they're gonna explode out in the worst circumstance OR that the show won't address them at all.
I'm disappointed they're using the psychiatrist as more comic relief than a genuine need of both these characters.
I mean, we have to come back to Isaiah, right?!? I desperately want him and Sam to have the chance to have a real meaningful connection. I am going to cringe the first time I watch every episode until we get to the end and hopefully it'll be okay.
