So I don't know if I missed something, but why are the Flag Smashers considered terrorists? Have they hurt people or is it based on the fact they busted up a bank and are disrupting supply lines? Do you think they are the villains in this story or are we being set up for a bait and switch?

The framing they've chosen to give John Walker does present some wrinkles in his character. He's not a Bad Guy . . . probably. I am still curious about whether they asked Sam to be Captain America or not.

That scene with the cops stopping Sam and Bucky was shot interestingly. The way they stopped their car was aggressive, but then they didn't have their hands on their weapons as they walked up. Their belts weren't that realistic, so I'm not sure whether to credit the cops' motivation or the studio being sloppy. Sam's face though. That was a tough scene.

I need to re-watch before proper reactions but I thought it was was very much better than episode 1 (which felt a little flat to me). It helps that Bucky and Sam are finally on screen together (still not convinced that it was a good idea to have one episode out of a 6 episode show when your two key characters don;t even share screen time).

The whole bit with Isaiah was very well done an raises many more questions!

I dislike Walker intently - I was warming to him right up to him giving the whole "I have guts" speech which made me want to see him quickly flattened because of the sheet amount of arrogance and hubris. *G*

Off for a re-watch!

Aw, shit, I didn't expect them to make the Captain America somewhat likable!

The main characters finally in the same scene, wow!
Hehehe, Bucky's pop-culture boasting about having read The Hobbit when it was released.

Ooh, Enfys Nest.

Pfft, there's a "Ä" in the second part of one of the truck's license plates. The other one doesn't follow the German license-plate structure at all. It says "2011 EKH". Can't remember about the numbers, but the letters were definitely part of Wanda's license plate. What does it refer to?
Fake Cap to the rescue. I didn't expect him to have a bigger part!

Carl Lumbly! \o/

That scene with the cops took an unexpected turn!

The psychologist does her job in a rather unusual way, but hey, if it gets results.

That Zemo tease was mean.

Currently I'm feeling so grumpy towards John Walker. That locker-room scene was nice, but then he was all arrogant. If he's still one of the good guys, he'll have to do a lot of good to make up for that character flaw.

Bucky - probably because he's very withdrawn - felt to me as if he was just... there. Some random, unknown person to whom I felt no connection. Good thing that I finally watched the first 2 Captain America movies. I really like the idea of Bucky being an avid reader and being excited about Lord of the Rings. Even if things aren't too great right now, there's gotta be some joy for him!

My god, I loved the KAZ plate so much that I made it grave-stone icons when the license number was changed. Not that I have a thing for license plates in general, I just like to read everything that turns up on screen.

Yeah, while entertaining, from a rl-perspective Dr. Raynor is pretty terrible. But maybe it'll turn out she was helpful by getting Bucky to socialize. Being around people I'm close to makes me feel better than talking to a therapist did, so my hope is that Sam will become that close friend for Bucky.

2011 was the year the first Captain America movie was released. No idea what the "EKH" means, though.

Aha, thanks!

But no one seems to know what the letters stand for (at least the last time I googled it). I wonder if it refers to something that's coming.

Did NOT like Walker. Sounds like Ross' BS.

Loved the interaction between Bucky and Sam. I liked Bucky before but I LOVE him now. Have serious concerns about him though.

Zemo gives me chills.

The thing that REALLY pinged me hard about Walker was when he was taking credit for getting Bucky out of jail, and he was like, 'He's too valuable an asset to have out of the field' and I was like HO SHIT HE DID NOT JUST.

Like, there's a LONG fucking history of Bucky and that word. I was kind of softening to him early on, but between his interaction with Bucky and Sam on the truck and then THAT, I was like, nope, asshole, you've spent all the meagre good will you got. GRRR.

Walker also pulled out his pistol and started shooting really quick... Cap usually only used a pistol on military missions.

Oh God I loved it so much. Everything about it. I've watched it twice, and it is NOT ENOUGH.

I was already shipping them before the show started, but I feel like after several years of false starts, I have finally gotten my fannish engine to re-engage. I'm so in for them.

John Walker is extremely abrasive. Do not like. Also very relaxed around Bucky? Like, having been briefed on his history, his strength and skills, and a friggin bionic Wakandan arm? I'd tread softly while wearing his dead best friend's persona, and most certainly wouldn't be calling him Bucky. Learn some tact, pal.

I really wanted Sam to bring up how he donated the shield for Cap's exhibit, not so somebody else could romp around with it. At least he got to very much reject hanging around to help solidify Walker's image. Ugh.

Very much continuing the trend of having a ridiculous tv psychiatrist.

Really hope we return to Isaiah at some point. And I loved how Sam got to react to a black superhero just being swept under the rug. They do seem to be tackling race somewhat in this show, thumbs up there, but I'll still be bracing for a misstep until the show is over 🤷🏻‍♀️

The showrunner (Malcolm Spellman) has confirmed in many interviews that racism is one of the two big themes in FATWS so I'd think we have to *have* more Isaiah to do that sensibly. Plus from an overall franchise perspective, they've already set up 5 of the Young Avengers elsewhere, so I assume Eli will get at least some more screen time with him since he becomes Patriot.
