Sam's suit. So that didn't go down the way I thought it would. What did you think about the 'pimp' conversation? I know so little about men's fashion, and I think they said African fashion? Except that I wish men could wear what they want and really express themselves without the negative connotations? More patterns! More colors!
Reduced role for John Walker in this episode, and Karli did a bad thing in the Flag Smasher's plot. My barely there show theories are falling apart.
What's up with Sharon? It feels a little like the MCU abandoned her. There was no reason she wouldn't have caught up with Steve, Sam, and Natasha when they were on the run, but Falcon and Winter Soldier needed an ally in Madripoor so they squished her in. You think she's going to get her pardon?

This episode definitely felt like the middle part of a movie. Things happened that had to happen but also I don't know that I have a lot to say about it? At least not until I see more of the consequences? I'm so excited we've made it to the halfway point.

I love how Bucky already helped break out Zemo, when he walks Sam through that "hypothetical". So Sam can't be blamed for that, should be helpful for when he becomes Captain America.
I wonder how Zemo got to keep his riches. Isn't that stuff usually confiscated when you get convicted of some serious shit?
I like him, he's a quality villain because he has a point.

I'm so confused. I thought the Displaced were people who returned after the blip. Huh, so the GRC is helping the Returned back into their old homes and jobs and that's how the people who hadn't been snapped lost theirs. And this whole time I thought everyone who got unsnapped had gotten the short end of the stick!

Zemo fills us in on what happened to Sokovia after Age of Ultron. Ugh, why is this episode so depressing? Why have they made this whole world so depressing? Aren't things shit enough in the real world?! Why do they have to make my visual comfort food too much like real life? See, my problem is that I'm seriously low on sanity these days, so I really don't need that. Fuck, what if all Marvel shows or the new movies too are this dark?

Date: 2021-04-03 06:22 pm (UTC)I am excited to get to know Sharon a little better! I'm usually not that into spy craft as its own thing, so I'm not her target audience, but this little slice of her life is a good amount.
I came in just expecting the worst about how the world would react to half the population suddenly coming back. Regardless of bliped or notbliped, the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. I wish they'd been able to spend a little more time with Karli and the woman who died. She's obviously been traumatized and that sent her over the cliff, but it was a very jarring shift from what I was expecting.
I think I've just forgotten how to deal with watching a new one episode a week show. I very much look up endings and spoilers for things I'm reading/watching so I can enjoy the journey and not fight my own anxieties.

Sam obviously needs to become the new Captain America, Bucky should be his sidekick or - if things go wrong - should at least get to seek refuge in Wakanda again, and Zemo needs to go to prison in Wakanda.
Mmm, I love me some spycraft (only just rewatched Alias last year and I can report that it's still good), which might be the reason why I want the above-mentioned trope to appear. Can't believe I forgot that Sharon was in the spy business! That really would make that trope perfect for her! And here I am getting too much into my ideas. This would probably be much easier, if I could write and bring these ideas to life myself.
Oh, right, Karli only bombed the GRC after her foster mom (I assume) died. My stupid sieve brain forgot that because of the cutting back and forth between the various story threads. Okay, that earns her back a few points.
I wish spoilers worked for me that way, but they either make me dread an episode or I get ideas about how the spoiler came about and then I'll turn out to be wrong and disappointed. The latter is what happened when I looked up spoilers about a show I hadn't started watching until the spoiler convinced me to. Forever bitter about the Bohner thing, ahahaha.

It made me a little ragey, to be honest). Steve isn't responsible for fixing the world; and the writers know what they are doing with Sharon's backstory and the non-snapped. (we hope..)

I mean, I've been writing them for years with wildly different characterizations, so I was a little afraid I'd have like . . . a lot of dissonance, but they've really given us a lot of layers already so a person can pick their favorite kind of communication from this disaster duo!
I haven't been reading any of the reviews, I want to wait until we've all seen the entire series. I am really curious if they're going to answer any of the Steve questions. Where is he and what is he doing? If he didn't head back to his own alternate timeline then why isn't he texting Bucky? I won't mind if they don't, I'm obviously here for Sam, but y'know, I'm curious for him too. : )
