I love that you made the headline look like the logo of this episode, hee.
It's so weird to see Wanda so aware!
I was wondering why we haven't seen Vision yet, but I didn't expect that Wanda had just left him lying there! WTF, she just went home after expanding the hex and didn't even check on him?!
And there's my answer to what Darcy changed into. Escape artist, hahaha, I love it! I also love her outfit. That whistling sound in the background after Vision asks her "You don't remember me from last night?"! XD
It hurts seeing Wanda try to turn her kids again Pietro. Because I still want him to be an actual person, specifinally X-Men's Peter. I do love the Minimoffs' alarmed faces though when Wanda tells them that she doesn't have all the answers. "Vision is made of Vibranium, they literally inherited tough skin." HA!
Looks like Wanda has trouble sustaining the bigger hex. Can't she just collect Vision and then shrink the hex again?
I take it the point of the Nexus commercial is to confirm the multiverse, right?
That poor space rover! I wonder how much money was trashed with it. But Monica gets through the suprisingly thick barrier fine. Improved even! Ooh, she can see magnetic fields now?
Where did the Minimoffs go? Agnes and her place give off supercreepy vibes, but maybe it's just a misunderstanding. Yeah, I don't know why I desperately want everyone to be good. But as far as I understand, comics!Agatha isn't a baddie, so I hope she wouldn'd be one here. So did Agatha bring Peter from another dimension or is he not real at all? Apparently comics!Agatha can reach across dimensions, so it would make sense if WandaVision!Agatha had just picked a real Peter from another reality.
And he's still there! I feared Wanda - in addition to throwing him across the town square - might somehow have cast him back into his own dimension for that comment about killing Vision twice.
https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Nexus_Beings tl;dr nexus beings like Wanda stabilize the Multiverse simply by existing. there's usually some multi-dimensional shenanigans going on sooner or later with them.
I usually don’t watch the ep until later in the weekend but I watched it at lunch today and 😮 I’d been suspicious of Agnes, but after seeing her in the car last ep I’d wrote them off but I knew something was wrong the second she went up to Wanda.
I hope her kids are ok, that must be so scary to find them gone (and then realising who she left them with).
I really hope Pietro stays around but with Agatha controlling him...
Such an interesting ep. There'd been theories about Agnes being Agatha Harkness for a while and while the comics nerd part of me is excited that is the case (also those redux credits were just fabulous!), I'm a wee bit disappointed because I feel like narratively speaking it would've been a stronger story to just have Westview be a result of Wanda's grief. Though I suppose we have yet to find out what exactly Agatha did. I'd argue she's mainly benevolent in the comics canon so possibly she's trying to help protect Wanda more than anything else. I'm also SO excited about Monica getting her powers finally! All her sequences were badass and I love that she's still trying to reach Wanda and figure out what exactly is going on.
I'm wondering if the original rumors about the guy playing Pietro actually being cast as Mephisto are still accurate -- he could be taking that form to do the whole Minimoffs soul shards thing and maybe the fact that they were able to get actual Sony!Pietro was just lucky stunt casting? [Especially since they can't use the words Mutant or X-Men until Sony gives it up.] Given his "dead husband" and "snooper" lines it seems like he has consciousness and agency.
If the twins are all the way gone I am going to be SO MAD because I want my Young Avengers, and we know for sure we are getting Kate and America, and some of the teaser for Falcon and the Winter Solider implies that maybe we could get the Eli Bradley backstory and therefore Patriot.
Is calling them "Minimoffs" a thing, did you come up with it yourself or did you take it from my review? I'd be so amused if it was one of the former two and I just happened upon a thing. XD
I'd be so disappointed if bringing Evan Peters into the MCU turned out to be just stunt casting. I'll keep thinking he's our X-Man until they prove me wrong. And I think the consciousness about this world isn't his own, that he gets it from Agatha.
The show can't end all depressing. Wanda won't get her parents or her Pietro back, so either the Minimoffs (I know it's weird to be confused by "twins", since Pietro is gone, that Peter isn't a twin and thus the word can only refer to the kids, but I can't help it) or Vision will survive, maybe even all 3. I was about to say that it would be weird for Disney to kill off their chance of some fresh Avengers, but if they're doing the multiverse, they can get rid of anyone they like and just bring in versions from another dimension, if they want to.
I haven't seen Minimoffs before, it's just so incredibly apt. :)
My SO corrected me and Disney got the Xmen properties back in the last couple of years, so keeping "Peter" might actually be a thing! It will be interesting to see how they drift the character into the less 4color vibe the Disney movies use. It's perfect for sitcom-land.
I don't know how on earth they'll wrap all this up in 2 episodes
Was that the same agreement where they sorted out their differences with Sony about another Peter?
Since I'm assuming WandaVision!Pietro is the exact Peter from the X-Men movies (and they wouldn't just blow up that world or some such - especially off screen), he'll have his own life to get back to. He and Wanda might get to meet up occasionally though, that would be nice.
Two episodes does sound short to wrap it all up, what if there are some threads left hanging? Maybe Peter is stuck in that dimension and Wanda trying to get him home is what starts off the Dr. Strange multiverse movie.
I've really been enjoying the pastiche of different TV trends per episode. A lot of them have been lost on me (I never saw Malcolm and the Middle, for example, so I didn't realise Billy and Tommy narrating was a homage) but talking heads and camera cutaways - that's my jam.
I have no idea what Nexus is a reference to, can anyone clarify for me?
Agnes was kind of telegraphed but I love the execution of it. It's hard to be terribly surprised because you don't get Kathryn Hahn and not use her, she's too brilliant to be wasted. And Agatha + Harkness = Agnes... Yeah. But the song, the perfect use of facial expressions and a witch's cackle, the brief glimpse of her "canon" outfit - I was delighted.
All that said, I'm not sure she's the ultimate antagonist. There's the implication that she has her own camera system, i.e. what we see during the Agatha All Along song (credits?) - the metaphysical cameras pull back on pre-established shots for new context. My very tentative theory is that WandaVision is not the only TV show the Westview anomaly is creating. Agatha is impervious to Wanda's control and is manipulating the situation for goals unknown, but we don't know if she can leave the Hex, because we've never seen her do it. Maybe she's the star of her own Westview "program" that has been running alongside the in-universe version of WandaVision. I'm very interested to see what happens next.
I read a potential theory somewhere that posited Dottie is Emma Frost. I think it's unlikely, but wouldn't that be awesome? Bring Emma Caulfield back! Using Mephisto as a red herring when - surprise, it was the Hellfire Club the whole time! - I'd be so happy.
Also, any theories on who in Westview is in witness protection? I thought WP was handled by state troopers, not the FBI, but I am neither a law enforcement professional nor American, so I could be wrong.
Most witnesses [in protection] are protected by the United States Marshals Service, while protection of incarcerated witnesses is the duty of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
And further reading says that the USMS is part of the DOJ, but they're distinctly not the FBI. It could just be a convenient confluence of purposes (the writing being lazy on the intricacies of law enforcement in order to reasonably involve Jimmy) or it could be that Jimmy was uniquely qualified to extract this particular witness due to his experience with superpowered people. Or I could be working with the dubious information Wikipedia has to offer. I wonder!
I haven't read the comics, so my list might be incomplete. As far as I'm aware of, there are 3 Nexuses. One is an internet company mentioned in Age of Ultron, so that won't be it. The 2nd I can't remember right now *facepalm* - okay, now it's definitely incomplete. And the 3rd is a connection between dimensions. Wanda is a Nexus Being, she exists in all dimensions. What confused me about the commercial was that all the other ones had been references to past events (except maybe the shark yoghurt one - still no idea what that one is about).
I love the "Agnes" wordplay! I wish we could have seen more of her witch outfit. The little we got to see looked pretty cool.
I've encountered no theories about the protected witness. I hope that character wasn't just a pretext to bring Jimmy in. I mean, I'm glad he's there, but I find that witness intriguing, so I want that to lead somewhere. Hey, I just came up with an idea: What if Fred exists and he's the witness? That'd would be funny.
butting in about the commercials I think the shark didn't reference a past event, but was a hint of what's going on. the shark literally says "I eat yo magic". that I think was a hint that there was more going on than just Wanda.
I don't know why I'm obsessing about this, but can someone help me with geometry anyway? I've been looking through Wikipedia for polyhedra, but so far I haven't found what I imagine the Hex's 3D shape is.
I had expected it to be symmetrical in all 3 dimensions, but from what we've seen in this episode it seems to be only in 2. We know it has a equator made up of 6 hexagons that stand on their points. These points would connect to the points of the bottom/lid hexagons respectively. So between the equator and a pole there's a row of triagles. What is this shape called?!
aand that song was such a banger! couldn't stop humming it!
and then we finally got an after credits scene, too!
what are the chances the kids got turned into the rabbit and the cicada in the living room? I still hope Pietro is really brainwashed x-men Pietro what's the point of kickstarting a multiverse and then not using it like that?
what are the chances the kids got turned into the rabbit and the cicada in the living room?
Interesting thought, but then where is the real Señor Scratchy? Do you think the bunny that Agatha is holding later is the kid or the pet? Would be supercreepy if it was one of the kids, but on the other hand it would that they still exist.
And thanks for identifying the funny bug. I've heard of them, but I thought they look like grasshoppers.
Hayward said they're about to launch and normally I wouldn't worry about that (seeing how Monica couldn't get inside the Hex with a space rover), but I wonder how well/long Wanda can keep the Hex up when she's outside of it (as indicated by the change in aspect ratio when she entered Agatha's lair).
